My family is spread throughout the country, and we talk to eachother on the phone all the time, but I don't really feel the need to live near them. I wouldn't say I've moved a lot - I've lived in 3 states total, and there are things that I really miss about where I lived before, but just aren't enough of a factor to make me want to move back. California has the water and grampa, but the weather doesn't change and I need rain and snow and changing leaves each fall. Erie has water but awful weather and a pretty consistent barometric pressure system that doesn't agree with my head. It also has a bunch of family that I love dearly but would probably drive me nuts if I was there all the time. Columbia, and this area in general, is lovely, but it's also very expensive, and since I'd eventually like to be a full time writer/mom, I don't know if this is going to be my long term place either. We'll see.

Great topic, BTW. What brought this up?

Well, last night I was giving myself a break from studying and thought "it's been a long time since I posted a poll" and this just came to me. :)

I have been thinking about places I want to live. If I had a more robust polling tool I would have tried to weight things, for instance, the showstopper for me on moving thousands of miles away is my parents. Jack and I have talked about it and he's not interested in moving but he's not completely against it. Since moving in the current plan wouldn't even be an option until 2011, I am not too worried about it yet. :) But I like to fantasize about seeing what it's like to live elsewhere.
