WoW Pplz

What addons are you using nowadays? What are their merits?

Immediately frustrated with fooling around with my druid, I rolled up a new blood elf paladin. Named Wajejeah. Jack made a 'lock. Named Penolus. Because we're 12.

HAHAHA! Wajejeah. HAHAHAHA! I wouldn't have gotten the name if you hadn't said, "Because we're 12." HEEE!

I use CTMod for the Map mod, mail mod, chat mod, quest levels, and anything pretty much that doesn't overly customize the bars, buttons or placement of anything.

I keep meaning to download Auctioneer, FlagRSP, and Group Calendar.

What server did you end up going with?

Well, we started blood elves on Uther, but mostly because the only ppl to enthusiastically comment "hey come play with us!" was M. :) I like enthusiasm. Also they seem to play a less end-oriented game, which is what I'm about.

My MOD choices are:

-Auctioneer, because I enjoy the AH game
-Atlas, because it's handy

I could live without Auctioneer and Atlas, but I love me some CTMOD. I use macros for a lot of stuff, though, which might be incorporated into some mod somewhere. I try and run as light as possible.

Jack does all the auctioning for me. CTmod seems like the winner.

The Blood Elf and Draenai starting areas are amazing, so even if you didn't get frustrated with the druid I'd have recommended rolling a new race to try. The quests and rewards and balance and general "coolness" of the races are miles beyond the old world.

As to addons: yeah, sorry I didn't get to that yesterday. I ran home from work immediately to Gruul's lair (where my guild got him for the first time! Yay!).

For non-raiding I find the most useful addons for druid-specific needs to be Outfitter (switching between tanky-gear and DPS while soloing, although also useful if you do raid), Tital Panel (I MUST havea clock onscreen. A lot of people use Fubar now instead -- it's an ACE addon. ACE is basically a protocol for addons that makes things easier to write and take up less memory. However, I'm a dinosaur and don't want my Titan messed with. :) ), and Hotman, which basically just shows a bar for each HoT or DoT you have going and how long it has left. MEGA useful soloing where you want to keep Mangle up (and if you haven't tried Mangle, it is TEH SEX for combat!).

In the "makes life easier" category, you probably do want the latest Auctioneer and Gatherer mods so that you can make money without too much effort. When you get to 68 you get flight for for free (which, BTW, rocks), but you still need to collect gold for epic speed flight if you want that.

The only other stuff I use is some raid specific stuff (a threat meter, damage meters and the boss mods that help warn you of events) but those aren't really something you're going to worry about. :)

It's SO ok you didn't get to it! I am just eager. I wasn't trying to be all "hurry up!" to you. :)

IMO you should be on all ACE2 mods. www.wowace.com is a great place to look. Also there you can get WAU (Windows Ace Updater) which is a .exe program that you can tell to go get all newest versions of your installed ACE2 mods.

IMO essential mods (these are all ACE2):

1) Cartographer with all the addons. So friggin handy.
2) SpamSentry (stops gold spammers)
3) Decursive (Makes casting Cleanse SO much easier)
4) RatingBuster (gives item stat breakdowns and comparisons to what you're wearing)
5) Omen (a great threat meter, helps only if your tank is using it or KTM)

Other great non-ACE2 mods:

1) ItemRack
2) Auctioneer
3) NaturEnemyCastbar (NECB)
4) SWStats (Damage/healing meter)

I have also heard VERY good things about FuBar and PitBulls, but I like keeping my UI as generic as possible so I can actually play on patch days :)

Spamsentry is pretty much obsolete now that the in-game spam reporting option has annhilated spam so effectively. I don't have it and I have seen maybe one spam since 2.1 came out. I got all excited because I actually had SOMETHING to report. :)

ItemRack vs. Outfitter (which is what I use) is a preference thing: as a druid it's ESSENTIAL to have a gear-switching mod, even if you're not raiding (which she won't be so I'm kind of leaving the rest alone). Although I've heard really good things about Omen so I may have to swich from KTM at some point soon.

Lets see, Cartographer, the Auctioneer pack, Recipe Radar (out-of-date, but still usable if you check the right box), AutoProfit (for quick grey selling), and the Mail portion only of CTMod.

I'm using older machines, so I don't want to load up too many mods. Those are covering me nice, though I might check out some of the others mentioned.

i find your recipe radar intriguing.

Oh dear..

Item rack - armor changer
Auctioneer - for making teh monies
X-pearl unit frames - makes the UI more functional
omen/threat1.0 - Threat meter
KTM - cause some ppl just don't have omen yet. The noobs.
Damage meters - duh
Recap - better damage meter
Gatherer - for picking teh flowers
healing estimator - shows real time estimate of outgoing heals
Deadly Boss Mods - timers for boss fights
Atlas and Atlas loot - maps and loots
lootlink - looking up items
character profiler - so I can check my bank and other banks
Scrolling Combat Text - look at all the pretty green numbers around me!
Perfect Raid - raid frames for healing, freaking must have
Titan - eh, I don't remember why I got this.
EPGP - the dkp system my guild uses
Gem list - shows the gems my alt can cut in wispers
PoM Mender - keeps up with where PoM is for my priest

Doesn't Omen know about and listen to KTM's channel? That's what I'd heard. So you can in theory use Omen even if you have friends who are still on KTM. If not then my "should try it" impulse is fading...

Half of this stuff is greek to me, too! :)

For the 'lock, GET NECROSIS!
Oh, so much the 'lock love.
He'll turn off a lot of things, but it adds a few nice buttons, keeps track of your DoTs and cooldowns, and makes a nifty sound when Backlash kicks in.

And Auctioneer seems to be a necessity these days, especially when you need to make gold for your mounts.
