This is not a weekend update - it's just the music news I can post real quick. The weekend was entirely postworthy but that will take some time.

Music industry reporting a Genesis 3-man Reuinion for next year. Comments: Ah, well. I will begin saving for this now. And continue to hope they will add two other ex-members later. Some disappointment that one SH is not on the rumored bill, as the 4-man era was nothing to sneeze at.

Via Bic Runga's MySpace blog: Neil Finn at Real World studios working with Johnny Marr. Well that's pretty exciting and quite an intersection of my musical tastes.

Jimmy Buffett's new album Take the Weather With You features a cover of a Finn tune. And steals the lyric for the album title. I might just give it a listen.

That totally blows. It sounds like you could happily skip one of their reunion shows for a tribute band performance. Can't wait to hear "In too deep" live, right? I hope they choke on all the money they make.

I do like the whole breadth of music - all their albums. I will be overjoyed to see a 3-man show, since I've never seen Genesis live before. It's disappointing, but I'll be really happy to see them. I think many fans will be made happy - and maybe the guys will have fun. I am sure people will feel harshly about SH not coming along, since he's been the most enthusiastic with the press about the R*. I actually can't wait to hear any Genesis live. :)

I'm interested to hear why he opted out, then. I don't really hope anyone chokes.

I'm more worried that he wasn't included rather than opted out. Mur.

PG I can totally understand - he just has moved way further off in another direction with music and worked with these guys way way less than the 3 of them worked together. And he's working on his own album which he wants to get released before 2008. (I think the rest of us want him to do that too.)

Phil, Mike, and Tony worked on their own for almost 2 decades more than they worked with PG or SH. It makes some sense. It's just disappointing.

Also, if they come anywhere near here (or, say, within a day's drive), I would love to go see this show. It would be a great nostalgia trip, since they were my first real rock concert and all!
