My favorite G song played by a school band. God bless their music teacher, whoever they are.

That is in fact the song I took to my drum teacher on the day of my first lesson and said, "This is my goal".

don't hate me -- i don't recognize what song it is. is it from the peter gabriel years?

I wouldn't hate you! I definitely don't expect everyone to know this stuff. This one is the first track off the first album after PG left, "Dance on a Volcano". At the end it merges into an older song, "Watcher of the Skies".

i was sort of kidding. i know how nice you are. :)

no, i've never heard that song. i didn't begin to *hear* genesis until the day i was driving around in beltsville and "That's All" came on the radio. i nearly fell out of the car. who in the WORLD is that?, i wondered, and soon found out. gabriel's ok, but it was always about PC and his voice and his arms. (i liked his power drumming. *s*)

"Mama," both song and video, was way off the charts for Hotness, according to me. *g* but the song i remember most fondly? "all too hard."

Right now I'm digging on Face Value (PC's first solo album) so much. If you don't have that one I'd love to make you a copy so you can listen! Most people think it's definitely his best. "In the Air Tonight" came off of it but since that's a little overplayed, the rest of the album stands out!! I can't stop watching the "Missed Again" video on YouTube:

I confess I think it's incredibly cute. My friends may disown me.

I am a huge fan of "Against All Odds", myself.

Oh, and if you would like to hear things before "That's All" I can hook you up too. Although I could just be taking this too far like I do everytime someone reacts vaguely positively in the direction of my obsession. :)

i had Face Value on vinyl but don't have it on cd or tape. that'd be great! thank you! (i just went to amazon to see which album "i don't care anymore" is on. oh, the drumming on that blew me away, when i listened through earphones.)

Against All Odds was emotionally powerful. i remember seeing someone on MTV, back when, saying that everyone he knew could tell him what they were doing when they first heard that song!

i missed again, whoa-oh. (there must be some misunderstanding, must be some kind of mistake. i waited in the rain for hours...)

Man... we speak another language I swear!

First, I confused ABC for Another Bad Creation. Now your favorite G song had me thinking, "When does she listen to gangsta music? I need to click on this link"

I read a description of "Apocalypse 9/8" the other day that said it sounded like primary school kids learning how to play their instruments, which is the kind of comment that would make me like the song even more, so it's uncanny that you should post such a link within the week.

Your CD is ready - I just have to write some self-indulgent notes to go with it now...
