Imp 2: Titus Andronicus

"Dark musk and black amber with frankincense, red sandalwood, neroli and bergamot."

I am getting overwhelmed by the red sandalwood here. Although, since I don't know just what neroli and bergamot smell like, those could be factors. I have to wonder if my hormonal state could be effecting these scents and if I tried them on during another part of my cycle, they would strike me differently. Anyways, out of the bottle this was VERY green. Very much like they just chopped open whatever tree it is they get 'red sandalwood' from. As it settled any other notes seem to have bled out, and a sticky sweetness lingers. Not nearly as dark or spicy on me as I'd hoped. Considering it, maybe I get a little of the musk underneath, but it's not helping. Another "no".

That sounds loverly but I'm not so much into the green or musks. I'll definately want to give it a sniff though!

Body Chemistry
I was looking forward to hearing about that one!

Hey, do you think you could describe what smells good on you? Like, give us some idea of your chemistry, so I can make a better guess long-distance as to how it might work for me? :)

Re: Body Chemistry
I wish I could nail it down! I am not sure I've ever had anything turn particularly "bad" on me, but there have been things that I just didn't like on me. I have worn things that are sandalwoody alot, and things that are flowery even. In essential oils, I tend to go for china rain, rainy scents, white musk. These all settle well on me. In department store perfume, I wear a set of things that have virtually nothing in common. Chanel's Egoiste, Chance; Anais Anais; Deci Dela; Carolina Herrera (both men's and women's). I recently got Crabtree & Evelyn's Spring Rain, while their men's Sandalwood fragrance smelled awful on me.

I hope that helps a little. :) I wish you were here and could come to our smelling party!

Re: Body Chemistry
I do too! It's kind of hard to say, based on what you've said; I know I really smell AWFUL in Chanel No. 5, and I usually avoid scents that are heavy in patchouli or smell too much like soap. (In the latter case, I figure I could just buy different soap. :)

Bergmot is somewhat citrusy but herbal. Think Earl Grey tea.
Neroli is a strong white floral.

Ah! Thank you! Enlightening. I don't think I smelled those however.

Many people have trouble with bpal citrus notes of any kind. Also, the bpal patchouli note is different than what you usually find.

One of their amber blends doesn't smell good on me. One of their musks doesn't smell good on me. I've noticed that some blends with neroli turn into the stink on me.

Of course, it took the car crash known as Titus Andronicus for me to figure all this out. :/
