What year was it?

What were your three favorite bands?
Crowded House, The Damned,The Monkees... yeah nothing changes with me, like, ever.

What was your favorite outfit?
Oh dear... um... I seem to remember wanting to be gothy or punky but not having real commitment to it. I wore alot of black jeans and band shirts. Or I had this one shiny red shirt I thought was the shit. I wore lots of things that were baggy beacuse I thought I was fat. (hahahahahahaha, okay it's not funny at all.)

What was up with your hair?
I was trying to grow it out. That was the high school story: The Poor Girl Whose Hair Wouldn't Get Past Her Shoulder Blades.

Who were your best friends?
Genie (geniealisa), April (keryx), Sara Murphy, Mary Lu, Donna Caskey, Jenny Whitney

What did you do after school?
Chorus stuff (chamber choir, disctrict and state chorus, etc.), Thespian stuff, harp stuff.

Where did you work?
I did some filing at my mom's real estate company. The only jobs I had during high school that didn't involve me getting paid out of petty cash were a 1 month stint at the Gyro Wrap in the mall and summer camp counselor.

Did you take the bus?
I drove the 1984 Pontiac Sunbird to school. I cannot tell you how much I loved that car. I was obsessed with it for years after, until I met the Aspire.

Who did you have a crush on?
I think the more appropriate question might be, who didn't I have a crush on? I think senior year I started going for younger guys, until I met Dale (PTUI).

Did you fight with your parents?
Probably? Most of the fighting happened during jr high. I am guessing I frequently fought with them about doing chores, since I was even lazier then than I am now, if you can believe that.

Who did you have a CELEBRITY crush on?
Uh. Dunno.

Did you smoke cigarettes?
I had started to pretend to smoke at this point... I didn't learn to inhale until I was 21. Thanks Chafee! :P

Did you lug all of your books around in your backpack all day because you were too nervous to find your locker?
No. The idea is unheard of. Have I mentioned that we had basically open cubes for lockers? That's the most interesting locker-related factoid I have.

Did you have a 'clique'?

Did you have "The Max" like Zach Kelly and Slater?

Admit it, were you popular?
As I see it, not even among my cohort was I popular.

Who did you want to be just like?
I think I specifically wanted to be just UNlike people. Desperate for attention, blah blah blah.

What did you want to be when you grew up?
Ambassador to New Zealand.

Where did you think you'd be at the age you are now?
I couldn't even imagine being this old back then. It's just not something I thought about.

For embarassing pictures, you can always refer to the old school photos post.
I was a pretentious jerk based on my senior quotes...

i plead the 5th. ;)

but seriously my whole plan was to go to american university for international relations! i was all serious about it. i was a NZ-o-phile long before the LotR movies!

Well, I felt like I would sound like a jerk if I did. :) Really, deep down, behind this boisterous exterior, I am a shy retiring sort.

I don't think I can remember back that far.....

I can, but I have to start with something solid, like the group of guys I hung out with and the film project we did. Then things start associating and flooding back. Now that I have a bunch of 15 year-old memories in my head, I've almost certainly forgotten something from today.

I've only got seven registers. I'm sure some of them are locked.

Oooo - should I start on your sophomore year stories?

Am I in the twilight zone, or did like 50 bazillion (estimate) comments from here, including one I made earlier, disappear!?!?!
Jan. 26th, 2005 12:18 am (UTC)
(Never mind, I figured it out... LOL)

I don't know how I managed this, but I was taking the smoke into my mouth and not into my lungs. I honestly thought I was smoking. Heh. Good thing I wasn't!

who didn't I have a crush on?

Right with you there.

The Sunfire was a sweet car. I'm jealous.
Jan. 26th, 2005 03:54 pm (UTC)
Ah, but it was not the Sunfire - in 1984 they did not even make sunfires. It was the Sunbird, also known as the Chevy Cavalier, and about 4 other GM names.
Jan. 26th, 2005 04:54 pm (UTC)
Hee. I remember when you worked at the Gyro Wrap. And I remember that car. Awww.

Intriguingly, this meme seems to shift years as it passes from person to person. I saw it as "freshman", then "sophomore", then "senior" here.

*snif* :)

I saw freshman and senior, and decided I remembered some answers to this one better.
Jan. 26th, 2005 04:54 pm (UTC)
Wait, you were best friends with Jenny Whitney? Really? Did I know this? Cause she was my best friend in like 3rd or 4th grade. Huh.
Jan. 26th, 2005 05:01 pm (UTC)
For some reason, the summer after senior year and I guess some towards the end, I bonded with her in this talking-about-boys way. She was WAY more sophisticated about it than I was. We tanned together. She's a PhD in psychology now!

That's wacky. The world = very small.
