News flash: Bigots invade MD with Billboard!

The towering advertisement is sponsored by Parents and Friends of Ex-Gays and Gays (PFOX), a national group based in Virginia

I wish my home state would stop disappointing me so. (Also I'm kind of surprisd I didn't hear about this one sooner.)

I'm frankly surprised that no one has climbed up there and defaced it yet. Maybe someone has.

Of all the places to post bigotry, I'm not sure Rockville, MD is really the right population open to that kind of message right across from Montgomery College.

I suggest a billboard just down the road which says, "Lesbians prove that better sex is possible!" But I suppose the county wouldn't approve it. :P

Montgomery County, rated the most liberal county in the US, with Bethesda as the most liberal community? You'd probably have an easier time with that then those people did with the anti-gay sign.

Braces for onslaught of rotten tomatoes...

Freedom of speech applies even to those whose opinions we don't agree with. *Especially* to those whose opinions we don't agree with.

It's part of being American.

Well freedom of speach and all that...

I think the best course of action is to get some people together and pool together money and get a billboard that says something like "Too fabulous to be straight, bitches!" or something ya know...equally politically valid.

You know, if they really were supportive of homosexuality, they wouldn't be trying to change anyone.

You could always protest is claiming that the billboard is "lowering local property values". I'm sure that'll get more people to speak out against it.

It is surprising, because I think that is the only area of MoCo that has billboards, I know it has been a contention for years.

I'm going to see if I can email the MoCo councel about the offensive ad.

It reminds me of that movie, "But I'm a Cheerleader". (That was such a kick @$$ movie.)

I wonder what goes on at that group's meetings, anyway. I bet it's creepy. I bet it involves electroshock therapy.
