Take the next ten songs that come up in random play on your mp3 list. Explain how they make you feel.
1. Pearl Jam - "Can't Find a Better Man"
Listening to this song makes me feel alternately smug and ashamed. Smug, because I'm at a point in my life where this song does not apply to me at all. Ashamed because there was a time when it did, and even then had someone played the song for me I would have thought about how it was apropos, and cried a bunch, and still stayed in my crappy relationship because I was terrified of being alone or some such crap.
2. Tom Tom Club - "Genius of Love"
This song makes me feel like driving in the summer with the windows down. It makes me want to go someplace warm.
3. ABBA - "Take a Chance on Me"
More often than not, in addition to a general feeling of happiness, ABBA makes me a bit nostalgic. Dad listened to ABBA alot in my youth. It makes me think of summers on the beach in the outer banks.
4. Richard Marx - "Hazard"
OK this just makes me admit I am a sucker for bad 80s music. And makes me sing.
5. Genesis - "More Fool Me"
This makes me think of how this whole album is better listened to in its proper order, and it makes me think of how there is a road on the way to work called Epping Forest Drive, which every morning makes me sing another song from this album.
6. Steely Dan - "Bhodhisattva"
Makes me feel zen, in a really peppy dancey kicky way.
7. Nico - "Wrap Your Troubles in Dreams"
This makes me bored, and curious as to why a few years ago I enjoyed listening to my Nico album over and over.
8. Annie sndtrk. - "Sign"
In love. With Carol Burnette. And desperate to burst into song in the middle of the office.
9. Jesus Christ Superstar - "This Jesus Must Die"
Oh crap. I'm going to get this stuck in my head and have people look at me funny when I bust into the chorus out loud in the Wawa.
10. Garth Brooks - "I've Got Friends in Low Places"
Rebellious. So many people hate country music, and I admit some of it is crap. Maybe it's geography, maybe it's in my blood (seems unlikely, with 2 yankee parents), maybe it's a weird class war thing, but I love country music. And it makes me want a beer.
