So I settled in for a fine evening of back recovery last night. (After 45 minutes of kittykat waste removal, which you don't want to hear about...) I took the muscle relaxants the doc gave me and prepared to be stuporous. Since the drugs pretty much voided my chances of being able to concentrate on Victorian lit, I turned to the tv. First up: America's Biggest Losers. I won't even bother to link to it; let's just say it's the show where the teams lose weight and people get voted off the island blahblah. There are also 2 team leaders in the form of perky aerobics instructor types. (The blue team gets a boy and the red team gets a girl, don't ya know!) The show is about 2% compelling examination of the human psyche and 98% horrifying, cringe inducing fatsploitation. I kept having to turn the channel away like I was watching a horror movie. Unfortunately everything on every other channel was ridiculous drivel as well. Finally 9pm came, and I was able to switch to the real meat of the evening, House. I was all, what? A prime time show with Hugh Laurie? Sign me up!!! And then I watched it. Well, most of it, by the end I was flipping around a little bit. It's not Hugh's fault at all; he does a great job, even if listening to him speaking in an U.S. english accent is jarring like nails on a chalkboard. The script is just weak. It has potential, but unless my back is hurt again, I won't be going out of my way to watch it. If I need a Laurie fix I'll just get some Jeeves & Wooster. Finally before I gave up and went for the Victorian Lit anyways, I tried to watch a new episode of NYPD Blue. I didn't even realize this show was still on. Once I realized they were abusing Medavoy and that Sipowicz and Clark are still having the exact same stilted dialogue they were 4 years ago, I just turned the beast off and went to bed.

Oh, and Iron Jawed Angels was, despite being Sex&theCity-fied, still able to reduce me to blubbering. It also reminded me how ignorant I am about certain historical facts.

I feel as though my skull is full of cottonballs and my back still hurts. When this is better, I am going back to Curves; it should not be this easy to injure my back.

I'm so glad the Y was mentioned. For some reason I never thought of it as a resource. There's one in E.C and it's open until 9:45 pm during the week and it has weekend hours. Lars and I were just mentioning how we need to join something and Columbia gyms are so expensive. I'm going to call tonight about the rates. I'm suprised there isn't one in Laurel or Annapolis!!
