okay whose BRIGHT idea was it to max out a person's aim buddy list at 200 people but not allow you to delete buddies ever? wtf???? this is insanity.

p.s. if i added you as a buddy in the last month i will never, ever be able to see if you are online apparently.

[edit]i am thinking it's trillian's fault for never, ever forgetting a friend. either way 200 is a stupid, stupid limit.

I've never had any problems deleting buddies in aim...

Maybe we're using different versions?

I think it's trillian's fault.

When I fix the buddy list in the AIM client, it's fine.

When I load up trillian, it brings back everyone I ever deleted in this "merged contacts" folder and tries basically to add them back.

RAR.

Delete the buddies from within trillian, then. See if that does it. I'd also google around on this: I'm sure someone has a solution. If nothing else, there's a buddy.xml files in (if you're on Windows) Docs and Settings/username/Trillian/User Settings that you can just hand-edit to remove the lines you no longer want.

Huh? I"m confused. there must be a glitch in the program. Cause I can add and delete buddies just fine.

Hmm, I use Trillian and have never had a problem. But then, I don't have an AIM client installed, so haven't tried sharing buddy lists between them.

What happens if you delete them in Trillian first?

I think what I need to do is wait til I leave this job, which will eliminate one instance of trillian.

Then I should delete them from Trillian. Then delete them from AIM.

Then when I start a new work trillian all will be on the same page.

Here's hopin!

you need to delete them from ALL INSTANCES of trillian (work & home). then they'll go away.

Yep, that's probably it. Bites me in the ass sometimes, too.

What really bites me in the ass are people who leave a murder trail of 43 abandoned aim names behind them. But I'm not naming names.

I have a few from back in the days when I actually had to hide from people, or thought I did. Or when I was a drama queen.

Re: ...
I don't think I knew you then.

Unless I was one of the ones you were hiding from!?!?

For whatever reason, when I delete them from the home trillian, the work trillian just adds them back, even if I delete them there too. I'm sure there's some magic timing I'm missing or something. Or the person's not online when I get to work so I don't delete them so they get put back in the list... etc.
