Mandatory reading, via cheetahmaster:

New editorial from Barbara Ehrenreich: The New Macho: Feminism

Thanks to a semi-anonymous contributor, I am pushed further along on my dreams of having a home library: Six Steps to LCC@Home. Now I just need to find someone to make me shelves, or pre-made shelves that don't suck.

Nothing - for other people. There are many things I will do myself; thus far carpentry has not been one I've done successfully. And with something so important, I would rather trust it to professionals. :)

Re: Silliness
Aw, those are both neat! Though the first one sounds cooler.

Also, the second one? Comes with a whopping thirty little card-holder things to put in books. Come ON, I have hundreds and hundreds of books! I need hundreds and hundreds of card thingies!

O man. My dissertation director has her office in the basement of McKeldin library, and there are all these (beautiful, useless) old wooden card catalogs lined up in the hallway. I love them.

I have some for books. I don't like the way it sits on carpet, is my big problem with it; I definitely have to bolt it to the wall. Mine is painted lovely autumn 70s colors. :) When we move it's going into the laundry room as utility shelving.
