I read a link to Five Geek Social Fallacies in someone's journal comments somewhere. (if you deserve credit let me know.) I am a strong carrier of #1 and #4. I can see flare-ups of #5.

Today is a haircut day. Later I will be visiting Kate @ Victoria & Albert in Columbia. (For those of you who asked...) This will be the fourth or fifth time I've been to see her. This time I hope to show her a few pictures of something more aggressive. Yes, it's never short enough. (Thanks to hothead for pointing out that site.)

Hate Fox's The Swan? Write some letters.

I'm feeling pretty intensely anti-social lately. Nobody's fault. It just doesn't feel safe to step outside.

oops one of them is wrong! heh. better fix that.

the cropsforgirls guy is supposedly creepy but i am very grateful for the site because it's damn hard to find pictures of gals with reeeely short hair.

My sis in western MA has a haircut like that last pic you posted. It seemed pretty much like she would just wash, gel, and go - a simple and neat hairdo. Go for it!

Mine is pretty much like that now - but she doesn't use clippers, and today I'm going to ask her to try putting down the scissors...

I miss my super short hair. But I do not have both the skull shape, nice neckline and good jaw to pull it off anymore. I look to square. Plus, I need to spike it to balance my hair with my super wide shoulders, but when spiked you can really see how thin it is, so that's why I'm growing it out.

Think of me while getting your super short cut! Oh, the days of my glowing violet pixie cut, I miss you!

My skull shape is all funny too! But I haven't given up yet for some reason. Mine seems weirdly thin too, now that I look, but then maybe it always was and I didn't know. :o

Bah. I hate generalizations like that. And I'd hardly assign those to just geek groups. In general, most people don't like confrontations, and I imagine a lot of some of those just come from that. I'd bet average age and group size have more to do with these than the types of people in them. (like geek or jock or whatever)

I also caught part of the swan. What a train wreck that is. I watched the episode horrified, and I really felt bad about myself for not stopping. I can't believe that they take people who already have psychological problems onto that show. I'm just waiting for the first of the loser suicides to happen. I believe this to be even worse than the who wants to marry a millionaire show.

Re: Geek Thingy

Agreed. I don't see why these describe geeks in particular. I don't think there's anything particularly scientific about them either. More like a set of observations some random dude made about his friends.

Tonight, it's calling me? I got a three step hair dye situation, and well, as you may know, Smallville. :)

That social fallacies article is interesting. I think I'm #1 neutral (ie. neither have it nor its negation), but I'm pretty negative on the rest. #4 in particular has always been a problem for me. When I meet a new group of people, I unconsciously pick out the one or two who I think are worth dealing with and become friends with them. The rest are just acquaintances to me. I've never understood how people can be friends with so many others.

See, I pretty much constantly say THE EXACT QUOTE he mentions there; I am always having fantasies about all my friends being at one big happy party and meeting each other and all getting along. Oops. :)

I wish I could explain how I can "be friends with so many others". Oh wait, it's because I was a big nerd in high school and desperately seek attention. ;) That or I'm a crazy idealist who believes everyone is a beautiful and unique snowflake. I know, I know. *sigh*

Yes, I know. I need to be restrained.

I will hopefully get around to posting pics, but only AFTER dying!

Allow me to second or third the sentiment of love for the feeling of short hair combined with insecurity over the way it looks on certain bodies. Go, enjoy, and the rest of us will live vicariously!

By the way, I saw a red-haired gal on campus recently wearing brown and mint green. She had long hair, but I thought of you. =)
