why have shame or embarassment about farting, eating, picking my nose, or having sex when i could have shame and embarassment about not living up to my potential and not giving back to my community?

so if you expect me to be ashamed about farting, etc. i have news for you!

i am the epitome of pissy bitch right now. i'm not sure where it's coming from, maybe it's a weird subconcious reaction to change. that or hormones.

I'd say hormones. We were laughing about the fart issue on Sunday. However, I have to state, I feel my cat should be moritified at the stench he produces. :)

i'm not going to pretend that i don't pick my nose...
"how come i can pick my ears but not my nose?
who made up that rule anyway?
how can you say that's the way it is, that's just the way it goes/
why don't you decide for yourself what you can do and what you can say?"

The only thing anyone could be ashamed of is things they did by choice and later regreted. I could personnally buy into the "not living up to my potential" action or lack of action if you will. Not "Giving back to the community"?? No shame there what ever. Try to identify what any community has ever done for you. If you can then you can give something back. boymonster has it about right on that score.

Fart proudly!

Re: Living up to potential and giving to the community.

I can understand this. Though lately I've been considering... there is value in simply being who you are, when you are. There is value in security. Giving to the community is all fine and dandy, if you have something spare to give. And doesn't the community consist of your family and friends as well? If you have good relations with them, then you're doing better than a lot of people in giving to the community. Yeah, saying this stuff to yourself probably won't take away the anxiety that there's always something more you should be doing. But it's worth thinking about.

I just don't want to be one of those people who talks a good game about progressive politics but lives in a glass house of privilege. Which is well, pretty much what I am right now.

Um, seriously, don't discount your feelings even if they are hormonal. I'm pretty sure everything in the world is wrong right now. My heart feels like it's going to burst everytime I fall asleep. There's a feeling I can't explain that's crept into my soul and I feel it again everytime I look at a paper or talk to my friends or listen to myself. Freak away, you're probably right.

I always freak out that I'm not enough of an artist and liberal whenever a major change happens in my life. Hmmm. Yeah, I can relate.

Also, people kind of inherently give back to their communities. But if you're not satisfied with what you're doing, then do more.
