March for Choice

Well in advance, but I'm curious in the moment.

Who'd like to join me at the March for Choice on April 25? I hope to gather a group, and maybe synergize with some other groups.

Rock on with the reproductive rights.

If possible, I'll be there. And I'll just go ahead and rsvp fairestcat if she's in town.

I'm in suburbia; it's a short drive to a metro station. I hope I can either A) offer to host a few people on my floor or B) help do a little research/networking to find a place for people from out of town. I really hope you guys can come, it would be fantastic and exciting to meet you both.

we're tentatively looking at being able to offer people crash space on our floor, but we aren't sure yet. We'll hopefully be getting a third roommate soon, and that person should have a bit of say in whether or not we then open the place up to all and sundry.

I will definitely be there, if a) I either have a car by then (I hope I hope I hope) or can get a ride and b) you remind us all sometimes between now and then. I can't remember jack shit without help.

I'm already planning on being there. One of my best friends is actually flying in from Missoula, MT for this. She goes to the University of Montana and I guess there's a whole group of them coming to the march.

Would certainly be interested in getting together with other people/groups going as well.

I'll keep all LJ-ites posted on groups and gatherings. Looks like some people are already working on bloggers for choice :)

Just remember to stay out of Pershing Park, unless you wish to spend a day or two as a guest of the District government and its chief enforcer of the order.

For a refresher see: http://www.washingtoncitypaper.com/archives/cover/2003/cover0117.html

Its actually almost directly across from my office. Basically, its across Penn. from the Reagan Building, next block over from Freedom Plaza.

I wouldn't worry. The Choice march most likely got a permit, and it's goal is not to "shut down the city," but to demonstrate. The goal of anti-globalization protest organizers is to catalyze and publicize confrontation, and they achieve it.

I'm there, with some friends. There's also a contingent of bloggers planning to get together - see Bloggers for Choice.

hey, who knew? someone has already thought of that - lj march for choice community. i'm really pleased to see communities and such forming around the march - i think it will be the first major US feminist action heavily organized via the web. the power of blogging, and all that.

Excellent. Let me know if you want to join the group of lj'ers for choice, although you'll probably hear more about it on my LJ anyways :)

I'd love to go. April is crazy busy for me so I don't yet know whether I'll be free that day, but keep me posted on the plan.

Newb?
I would be interested, but am a little wary, having never participated in any type of march or protest or anything. The Pershing Park article definately didn't assuage any fears. ;)
