i am halfway through p.d. james' devices and desires. it's the perfect kind of mystery novel to satisfy my reading needs right now. i am not sure why i didn't read it ten years ago. i can't help but compare it to the works of martha grimes; although i think i may be more fond of martha grimes' prose style and also her detective. dalgliesh is just a little too morbid thus far. grimes' main man, richard jury, is a detective i've been in love with for years, but unfortunately her last three jury books have been for crap as far as i can tell. i still have 250 pages to go in d and d so i will give dalgliesh a chance despite his weird name.
sunday morning i did in fact get to join the coffee-house cribbage group. it was nice, i wish they all lived up here and i would join them more often. also, right now jack is sick. i should have taken him some soup but rudely i watched out for myself and did not risk contamination. it's weird that he is sick because if i recall correctly he never gets sick. it was nice to sleep in my own bed today. nicolas stayed there with me the whole time. probably because i had the air conditioner on and he was cold and wanted my body heat.
got my SC druid to level 40. this is usually the point where i lose interest, so we shall see. i got to play today with a werebear druid, an elemental druid, and a summoning druid (i do the wolf thing) which was pretty cool, except the elemental druid kept slowing everything down by launching volcanoes. grr.
