Dec. 13th, 2007

And now I begin the "oh god am i driving to PA this weekend in the weather or eating the ticket cost" fretting. This is/was going to be my last adventurous/expensive hurrah before I batten down the hatches for next year*!

* I immediately thought of the exception list: ProgDay, possible Spring Musical Arts Restorative up north, OBX... but those are supposed to be calculated to be part of my year of contemplation!

Uhoh, what concert is this weekend? It might be...messy.

Maybe...the venue will cancel and refund all tickets! (Please duck...flying pig coming through...)

The Musical Box. I really really yearn to hear this material live, and there is every chance that this is the last time the entity "The Musical Box" performs as such.

It's totally killing me to think of NOT trying to go.

Oh dang! Which show are they recreating this time around?

Wait, haven't they broken up/stopped touring before? Hrm.

How far away? Is there a public transportation alternative?

The Selling England by the Pound show, but the Black version instead of the white staging, which I could give you details about but it would bore you.

They have in fact lost their drummer which is a huge bummer. He is pursuing the later material with his own band "Turn It On Again" who will actually play that same venue in March. I'm going to see that too. In fact, you might want to tell your bro about it:

The theater is in Glenside, PA, a suburb of Philly. But I will be meeting my friends out in the sticks. I hadn't even considered the idea of a train because my friends would have alot of picking up and driving me around to do!

This is the same drummer that's selling his kit on eBay, right?

I, uh, might be interested in that March show, actually. When in March?

Hrm. 80-90% chance of snow Saturday there. That sucks.

Yes, Martin Levac. Whose babies I would have. The show is March 29th. It's not on their website, but you can buy tickets, it's on the Keswick website. I just bought one sort of assuming no one would want to go with me again. :) I'm sorry I didn't ask first!

re: 80-90% well, it is clearly going to snow... but will it be the kind that will get me killed if I try to drive? That is the question. Particularly for the noonish to 4pm ish hours when I would endeavor to get myself up there.

I trust Tara and Chris to be able to get around in the mess of their own homeland, I guess. :)

That's the thing with these nor'easters...no one's gonna say just how bad it will get until it's happening. But I think if you go midday and don't have to come home 'til the next day, you should be fine!

You can take the train to Philly and then the train to Glenside without even venturing aboveground. Don't make yourself miserable. Better your friends have to pick you up at the station (and don't forget, you're hanging out with them anyway) than you ruin your back and your mood by spending six hours driving in slush.

Call me if you need a detailed transit plan! I'll be super happy to help!!

You are very kind. I felt bad already that I was going to come to philly and not be able to come by and visit. :( This might be helpful, I haven't decided what the heck to do yet!

Well, just let me know. The burbs are pretty well served by rail, and the rail is easily accessible from most places... if only they put that same thought into the transit that people without cars take! Haw haw.
