We are very near to adopting a second cat, methinks. I am trepidatious. And suddenly very glad I work with veterinarians, who can answer some questions for me without me paying a bunch of cash! Argh, I hope whoever we get and Nicolas become fast friends.

I have barely seen Jack all weekend; or at least it feels that way despite the fact that we drove to Gaithersburg yesterday on a cat-adopting mission. He's sleeping in the next room but I want so badly to be mean and wake him up.

The desire to be hermitish is stronger than ever. My heart's desire at all times is to spend time with the house, as if it's my one giant craft project. Or a friend.

From what I've gathered from other new owners, the feeling for being more hermitish is a very common thing. I don't think it's a bad thing in the right dosage, but I'm biased of course.

It's really not a bad thing. I just don't let myself do it much.

Re: Second cat
I wish I even halfway thought it would work. I just think he'd go nuts... don't you think so?

New houses are very comforting and the desire to stay in them very natural.

We missed you yesterday.
