stray friday thoughts

One of the TOP things that annoy me: People who stand in front of the metro doors even though they are not getting off for 5 stops.

I really wish I had a copy of Sandra Bernhard's cover of "You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)" by Jimmy Somerville. Her cd is out of print.

Therapy is very helpful for when you get absolutely broken in the head about something, because you can sort of set it aside and say, "okay, I won't think about that right now, because I am going to talk about it in therapy." and then get on with your day.

Once again, for everyone else this evening is the commencement of the weekend. For me it's just another weeknight. Sigh.

Which Sandra Bernhard CD is it on? I've got one of them, and will happily upload it for you, if it's on it.

Re:
Excuses for Bad Behavior pt. 1, as far as I know. There is another one called "Without You I'm Nothing" but amazon doesn't have a track list for it. Yay! That would be so awesome if you found it!

Re:
That would be the one I have. I've never even played it- I thought it was a comedy cd. You can have the original cd if you want. But I'll load up the album tonight, and send you the link to grab the mp3's.

I have apparently used up my bandwith for the month.

Email me at nbombay@mindspring.com and I will pop over the mp3

"Mighty Real" is on Without You, I'm Nothing and I will happily give Joe a copy to give to you. Have you ever seen the film of it? He also has a VHS copy of that.

Re:
It looks like I have getting the song covered. I also found a copy of the original version. I can't remember which I like better, though. Also, I haven't seen the film - is it a concert?

Re:
The film is a conceptualized version of the concert. It has some pieces from the off-Broadway show but it's also populated with other material. It was not shot as a concert at all but it takes what made the live show popular and turns it inside out. If you'd like to see it, Joe has a copy.

Sylvester's version is straight-on disco. Sandra's has an entire rap about a confused straight boy going to a gay club and finding a whole new world for himself, and then she launches into the song.

I like Sandra's version better but I am way biased.

that's a good point about setting The Thing aside for therapy and getting on with the day. i've experienced that too, though i can get good & obsessive. one therapist turned me, in 5 minutes flat, from an anxiety-ridden paranoiac into a simple nervous nelly by having me write this down:
This is difficult, but not dangerous. I can continue to function in spite of my feelings.

instead of committing myself, i said that when i needed to and got better. a good therapist is worth her weight in rubies.

Re:
I never used to be able to function - maybe I'm more mature now, I can only hope. When I got obsessive I simply couldn't think about anything else. My mother always said I would mellow as I aged - I think she was right! Hate to admit it of course. :)

Miss talking to you as regularly as I used to.

What server is it again you play on?

I might go make a toon over there just to hang out some times :)

Any need for a /level scout?

Percival/Albion!

I have the level 38 paladin (Guelffyr) and a level 7 sorceress (Ghaura).

If you get involved and play with our guild some, you might enjoy joining. Or you could just hang out with lil ol me. :)

Dear god in heaven I had forgotten about that cd. My friend Kerry from university had it.

I prefer the Jimmy Somerville version, of course, but the Sandra Bernhardt was trippy. I think I probably have it on a mix tape somewhere in Maryland.
