fantasy meal for tonight: roast beef and swiss cheese melted (in a toaster oven, specifically, the best appliance ever) on whole grain bread with a few leaves of iceberg lettuce, accompanied by crystal light.

actual meal for tonight: a pepsi and an ice cream sandwich.

i hate you, whatsbetter.com. you make me choose between jimmy carter and the cat in the hat.

book club was neat. when i can stop deciding what's better, i'll update the web page. we're going to be reading Homicide next. i'd have preferred something else but it certainly isn't bad.

that sandwich sounds awesome. i think the only way i would improve it to my own taste is to add sprouts and maybe some mustard or something. i am totally with you on the support of toaster ovens, too.

whatsbetter is truly a cruel mistress. i find i cannot hate it for too long though.

i went to the safeway and bought sandwich fixins this morning. w00t. too bad i cannot make this sandwich at work because we have no toaster oven. i seriously should consider bringing one but i know i would either get in trouble or it would get stolen or something.

mustard: i am anti-condiment. mostly because i don't like the way any of them taste. :)

that's a pretty good reason to be anti-condiment! not having a toaster oven has plagued me many times, but never enough to do anything about it for the same reasons you specify. i usually settle for toasting the sandwich at home and just carrying it to work with me, by which time it's no longer quite as good but it's still better than just microwaving it. i guess. at least my toaster oven isn't being stolen, at any rate.

whatsbetter is so great! i was able to stop only because i tried to backspace to look at a previous choice and kept getting new combinations. honked me off. otherwise, i'd still be clicking... :D

sometimes i get horked off at other people's choices, but then i click on the next one and discover that people actually like the muppets or something and i feel better. it's so dumb.

the other day at the store i found chocolate chip ice cream sandwich ice cream. it's chocolate chip ice cream with chocolate sandwich bits mixed in. SO GOOD. also it's edy's grand light which makes me feel a little better about gorging myself on it.

fifty four pounds! it's huge! after reading the reviews i think i will hold off; space aside i can get a microwave (which i already have) and a toaster over (ditto) for under 100 bucks nowadays. my biggest and ONLY problem with my current toaster oven is that it's hard to get it really clean. bleh.

Homicide!
One of the best damn TV series ever! I loved Andre Braugher . . . Never found another character like him, although Criminal Intent has eased my pain.

I've always wanted to read the book, but never found it. Please let me know if it's good--

Re: Homicide!
i've never really watched the show; i am sure i would like it though, being A) so close to baltimore that now i know the place a little better and B) i like cop dramas.

i started the book before we chose it for book club - i have never heard anyone say anything bad about it. i bet you can find it at a used bookstore pretty easily since it's out in mass market paperback. i will let you know how i feel when i'm done!

I'm a huge fan of the TV show Homicide (as are most Baltimorons). The book's been on my "One Of These Days" list for ages. Hope you enjoy it.

oho! i have a webpage for it here. a little over two years ago i stated to some friends that i was sick and tired of reading books and not having anyone to talk to about them. so we read books about one a month (except during the december holiday crunch) and get together on a monday night and discuss. we're pretty open and have our meetings in the homes of various members around the laurel-ish/columbia-ish area.

that would be awesome. we have been baby friendly over time, but we've never had to be kid-friendly, and i don't know how old your kid is, but i'd like to think that we could allow for child-related needs if necessary. it's a little weird because it's mostly people who know each other IRL but i like having new people because a fresh perspective is always good!!!! and i started book club so i'm allowed to set policy to a certain extent. :)

Come on. The Cat in the Hat was a far better President than Carter. I was especially fond of the things he used to clean up this country.

The mini Foreman grill is pretty neat, too.

why i ever use my regular oven, i just don't know!!

i've used the foreman grill as my roommate has one, but i'm still not totally sold on it. i seem to recall the outside of my steaks got really really charred while the inside wasn't cooked that well. :-/
