You could always get a galtham.org email address.

Do I get a shell account with that?

I'm hoping to have a friend host my domain on their server and set up mail for that, but really, ultiamtely, I am hoping NOT to have to abandon my current address. Sigh.

I don't believe so, you'd have to ask Andy or Tripp for sure, since they're the ones that host galtham email.

But I use it was my permanent address that I give out, and then Andy/Tripp set it to forward to whatever my current ISP has given me as an address.

Cool. Thanks for the tip, although I hope I don't need it. :)

Forwarding accounts are definitely the way to go. I got one from my University, and now I can change ISPs anytime I want. If you want a cheap, reliable shell account, you can get a 100MB account from csoft.net for $5/month. That's hard to beat. I've been running a shell account through them for a project I'm working on, but I think I'm going to switch my person account over to them, too.
