that said, although the protesters are not effecting my day at all, i don't have anything bad to say about them. i have vague sympathies for the political ideas they're sort of um, putting in a bad light. i'm sure if i put this in more plain words, lots of people would think i was a tire-burning asshole too. but i guess just remember that the difference is i'm not burning any tires. or breaking any glass. i feel the tone of what i'm writing here is way too apologetic. it's no secret i don't like unchecked capitalism. if i was going to lay down in a road to protest something, though, i'd start with something else.

i can't believe i woke up at 11:30 last night. UGH. another evening completely missed. this makes me sad.

Tire burning assholes...
I try to remind myself that the ones who get the most attention are, unfortunately, the ones doing the most harm to their cause. Not every protester is a tire burning asshole, and not every tire burning asshole really gives a damn about the cause...

I dont like unchecked capitalism either. I do sympathize with some of the causes downtown as well (demonstrations for racial equality, aid for the poor, feminism, and a variety of others) - but (you are RIGHT) they are going about it the WRONG WAY.

My two things I've actively protested are: equality (I've marched ina few gay pride parades.) and education. Because I think there is something really broken about certain counties not having as much money as other for schooling. There shouldn't be the huge difference in education between Ms. Traceracers' classes and Montgomery County school classes and Prince George's county. I mean, if you look at the SAT differences it's like night and day. PG=850, Mont=1100.

whoa..ranted there. my apologies.

DOWN WITH THE CAPILIST REGIME! And I mean that in the most peaceful way possible.

Protest or Anarchy
It is interesting how these folks are protesting the very mechanism that makes it possible for them to protest. Nobody has to finance anything in the rest of the world so why do it? They do it cause it is better to try and grow an economy than it would be to ignore one. Everyone seems to want to redistribute every one elses money but not their own. The "protesters" do not offer any alternatives, they just want to destroy. That'll really help.
